Show Otto
your car.
A dashboard light. A noise you can't place. A repair estimate you don't trust. Take a photo and Otto tells you what it likely is, how urgent it is, and what to do next, for your exact car.
Free during beta. Invites go out in small batches through TestFlight.
Three steps. No jargon.
Otto is built for the moment something feels wrong and you don't know who to trust yet.
Add your car
Point the camera at the VIN sticker. Otto fills in the year, make, model and engine, and checks open recalls.
Show it the problem
A photo of the light, the leak, the dent, or the estimate. Describe it in a sentence if you want.
Decide with confidence
Likely causes ranked for your car, a triage level, what a shop should check first, and a typical cost. Then: a rated shop nearby, or step-by-step if it's a job you can do.
A diagnosis you can actually read
Otto describes what it sees in your photo before it interprets it, then ranks the likely causes for your year, make, model and mileage.
- Triage in plain words: safety issue, fix soon, or cosmetic
- What to check first, so a shop can't skip to "replace it"
- A typical cost range before you hear the quote

Steps written for your car, with a safety net
For jobs an owner can do, Otto writes the procedure for your exact model, lists the parts and tools, and finds verified reference photos.
- Tap any highlighted part to see what it looks like and where it is
- Can't find it? Take a photo and Otto circles it
- Stuck mid-job? Ask Otto without leaving the step
- Every finished job becomes a record: steps, times, your photos

Rated mechanics near you, not a sponsored list
When it's a job for a pro, Otto shows repair shops around your home ZIP with Google ratings, distance, and one-tap call or directions.
- Primary repair businesses only, no detailers or parts counters
- Reviewed shops first, then by distance
- Otto doesn't take referral fees from shops

Your car, remembered
Mileage, service history, open recalls, and the manufacturer's own maintenance schedule for your engine, not a generic "every 5,000 miles."
- Reminders when something is actually due
- Log a service in ten seconds, or let a finished DIY job log itself
- Scan a repair estimate and Otto explains every line

Ask anything, with a photo
"What does this light mean?" "Is this oil level okay?" "Should I take this quote?" Otto answers in a few sentences, grounded in your car's details and history.
- Short answers, not essays
- Knows your car's recalls, mileage and service log
- Says "see a professional" when that's the honest answer

Otto knows when to say "see a pro"
Some things should never be a weekend project. Otto's safety rules run on our servers, not just in the AI's instructions.
Brakes, steering, suspension, airbags, fuel system, structural damage. Otto assesses them, finds you a shop, and won't write a DIY procedure unless you explicitly accept the risk in writing.
Leaks, warning lights, worn parts. Clear triage, what to check first, and how long you can reasonably wait.
Filters, wipers, bulbs, fluids, battery terminals, cosmetic work. Step-by-step for your model, with photos and a way to ask for help mid-job.
Information, not a mechanic
Otto's answers are AI-generated and can be wrong. They are a starting point to verify, not a professional inspection, and no one has looked at your car in person.
Otto is not a repair shop and doesn't sell parts. Shops shown in Otto come from public listings and aren't vetted by us. Read the Terms before you rely on it.
Otto calls the shops. You pick the quote.
Getting a fair repair price today means phoning five shops, describing the problem five times, and hoping you asked the right questions. Concierge does that part for you.
You approve the plan
Otto shows you which shops it will call, what it will say about your car and the problem, and what it will ask for. Nothing is dialed until you tap approve.
Otto makes the calls
An AI voice agent introduces itself as calling on your behalf, describes the car and symptoms, and asks each shop for an itemized quote, the diagnostic fee, and the earliest opening. It shares your first name only.
Quotes land side by side
Each quote is checked against Otto's typical-cost range and flagged if a line looks high or missing. You see them in one list with the shop's rating and distance.
Book, then track the job
Pick one and Otto books the slot. While the car is in, Otto keeps the status in the app and reminds you what was agreed before you pay.
How it will work
- Every call is approved by you first, one call plan at a time
- Shops hear the same honest description you'd give, nothing exaggerated
- You'll be able to read a transcript of every call
- Shops never get your phone number or full name unless you choose to share them
- No pay-to-play: shops can't buy a place in your list
Concierge opens to beta members first. Join the beta list below and say if you'd like early access.

Otto is on iPhone through TestFlight while we work through the rough edges with real cars and real problems. Leave your email and we'll send an invite as spots open.
- Free during the beta
- iPhone, iOS 17 or later
- US cars first; shops and recalls are US data
- Your email is used for the invite and nothing else
Questions people ask
Is it free?
Yes, during the beta. If that changes we'll say so clearly before anyone is charged. There are no in-app purchases today.
Android?
iPhone first. The app is built so an Android version is possible; we'll open an Android list once the iPhone beta settles down.
Does Otto call shops or book appointments for me?
Not yet. Today Otto finds and ranks shops and gives you one-tap call and directions. Otto Concierge, which calls for quotes and books on your behalf with your approval, comes after the beta.
How accurate is it?
On our dashboard-light test set Otto identifies the light correctly 9 times out of 10. It can still be wrong, and it says so. Treat it like a knowledgeable friend, not a certified inspection.
What happens to my photos?
They're stored privately under your account and sent to the AI model only to answer your question. They're never used for advertising or sold. You can opt in to let us use them to improve Otto, and you can delete everything. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
Which cars does it know?
Anything with a VIN. The assessment, procedures and maintenance schedule are generated for your specific year, make, model and engine, from a 2003 Accord to a 2021 Taycan.
